My HP DeskJet 3755 printer is brand new. I have the instructions online and followed them to scan. I had a two sided document that I wanted to scan one side of only and it would only scan both sides. Now I want to copy one side of some documents and I am afraid it will copy both sides too and I will be wasting a lot of ink every time I copy a page of something.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help.
You just have to make sure you uncheck two sided printing option.
You'll find it here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2275901-2074064-16
Let me know if this helps.

The problem was that I only wanted one side scanned. HP Smart doesn't give you the option of only scanning one side; there is just a button Scan and when you click on it, it scans both sides whether you want it or not.

Then you can probable do this using the full feature software of the Printer which you can download from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

That link just led me to where you can download HP Smart and I've had it for years. I keep reading that you can copy through HP Smart but my HP Smart doesn't have a copy button on it; I have to go to the top of the printer which is difficult as it is on a shelf above my computer. So I tried the live chat and I was next in line for the last hour so I'm going to give up and try tomorrow morning; maybe I'll have luck getting through. Thanks, I'll let you know.

I finally got through to HP Support. There is only a copy button on the HP Smart app if you have a mobile device. It doesn't make sense to me that you can do this on a phone but not on a computer but that is the way it is, apparently.
The agent I spoke to told me that there is an option to scan only one side. I just scanned a couple of two sided documents and this time they only scanned one side, the top side; the way I wanted to do it. But the first time I used HP Smart with this scanner which is on my printer, it would only scan both sides. I did it 3 times to make sure. I don't know why the change but now it is doing what it is supposed to in terms of scanning.
