We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

When I try to install the downloaded software the installation tells me that it can find no USB hardware or USB drivers.

When I plug in the scanner Windows installs it and shows it in Devices and Printers screen.

I can click on it there and it will scan a picture but gives me no control over what else I might be scanning.

I have unplugged the USB cord from scanner to computer, deleted the printer from Devices and printers,  and attempted to install the software again.  Still no joy.  I have no problem with any other USB devices.

Any help appreciated.

Can you try this alternative Scan software:

 

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let us know if that works.

Thank you for your response.  This software installed and gives me most of the functionality of Solution Center.  This will work until I can figure out why SC does not recognize my USB reports.

Full featured software fails to install due to perceived USB issues.

Installed the driver file successfully and the scanner connects and will scan with other software (office)

Full featured install still fails. A bit hard to understand when the scanner is already connected.

The scanext software installs, but does not support the same functionality as the full featured install does.

No OCR and less control.
