Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Until today, my HP Smart allowed me to scan with no issues.  Today, it asked me to sign into my account (which it never asks). I sign in and it gets to a spinning wheel on a screen that says "Applying Account Information".  It will stay on this screen for literally hours. I've tried multiple times, and have rebooted several times.  No luck, I cannot get into it.

I can print (not through HP Smart), and can scan with Windows Fax and Scan, so the equipment works and the connections are there. But I can't use the HP Smart, and the 'Virtual Assistant' is useless in helping me. As soon as I click on the assistant, it won't allow me to ask a question, but fires off answers about low-toner.  (Eventually was abler to ask a question about this, and it gave no answers).

Can anyone tell me how I can get HP Smart to allow me to  get past the "applying account information screen", or how to speak to someone at HP about this?

Thank you.

Tim

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

I have the same issue. Can someone please help?

Hi. I did get an email asking for more information. I responded right away, and never heard back from anyone. I see in the threads of this post that there are others with the same issue.  I since downloaded different HP software and can use my scanner.

HP did reach out to me, I gave them the same information as I provided in this post, and they never ever got back to me. I went to the HP site and downloaded different driver software, and it works even better than the one in question did. This is what the main page of the good software looks like.

Applying account information...

I am not happy with it

Same exact issue. It's ridiculous that HP decided to require customers to create an account just to scan/print. Now I can't even use my printer because of this issue.

There is HP driver software that doesn't require an account, and works even better than this **bleep**ty product that doesn't work.

You can download driver software from the HP site that doesn't require that you make an account. It works better than the one we're talking about (when you could access it)
