HP 7740
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'm trying to use the A3 flat bad to scan a bound A4 document, two pages at a time. This requires a 'batch scan' to be efficient.

My preferred scanner utility is NAPS2, which works well, except that I cannot scan to A3 using the utility, regardless of the settings selected.

I can scan A3 using the HP scan software, but it is extremely clumsy and has no batch scan facility.

As far as I can tell my firmware is up to date (the printer updated this automatically) and I have the full drivers etc. installed on my computer.

This thread:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Scan-to-email-HP-Officejet-Pro-7740-not-sc...

suggests that only the HP Scan app can scan A3 using the HP7740 and that it's not possible using any other software. I assume this isn't actually the case, as that would be incredibly stupid.

Many thanks,

ND

Hi,

Within NAPS2, make sure you set the source to Flatbed Glass and then check for any difference.

Be aware that you may also perform batch scanning from HP Scan - set the Flatbed Source as Glass, the Scan Type as Photo, and the Scan Size as Auto Detect Pages, however, you must have some spacing between the pages for the auto page size detection to work.

Hi, thanks - I couldn't get your method of batch scanning using HP scan to work.

However, I did discover that I can batch scan via NAPS2 by selecting 'use native UI', which switches to the HP Scan programme to scan each programme, before defaulting back to NAPS2 for each scan to collate the batch.

Worked ok, but would have been more elegant if I'd simply been able to scan via NAP2 directly.

Many thanks,
