I am unable to scan to my new MacBook Air (macOS 11.5 Big Sur) from my OfficeJet Pro 8710. I AM able to print. I get the message "You do not have permission to open the application "HP Scanner 3"." As far as I can tell, I don't even have this app on my computer. How can I re-enable scanning?

@PCG13, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to scan from your Mac. To assist you better, which app are you using to scan?
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Also, check for any software updates on Mac
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
Use the HP Easy Scan app from the App Store or Apple Image capture and check if that helps.
For more info on scanning, refer to - How to scan with an HP printer
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
