I have recently replaced my older HP printer with an 8210. I can print, but I am unable to scan. When I use HP Smart, I get an error message indicating "HP Smart cannot scan from this printer". I'd appreciate any thoughts on what the issue could be.

Thanks Andreas, I have done that a number of times. I end up reinstalling HP Smart as part of the process and it comes back around and I have the same problem. I suspect the issue was that I have an older Dell PC and it’s just ready to be pushed into a ditch. Thanks for trying.

Thanks for the feedback.
Try this suggested solution:
- Install HP Scan Extended find here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/
- Download this file: HPScanExt.msi
- Close all programs
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.
OPTIONAL:
- Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
- Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
I think the problem is caused by HP Smart.

Thank you. I figured you were not a HP employee. They can't be found to help solve issues like demanding I create an account before I can scan on my 8715. Do you know of a way to eliminate this invasion of privacy?
