I recently had an issue when my printers abilty to can or print stooped. The only  outcome option available was FAX. I uninstalled and re-installed the software, however the HP assistant has disappeared.  Now when I want to changed the file properties for a scanned document outcome from Jpeg to PDF when scanning to a folder, I can find no avenue to do this. Any Suggestions. I have uninstalled and installed sveral times.  I have also tried usinng the HP scan Doctor, On completion is says it has fixed some problems and invites you to do a test scan. When you try to do so ii come up with a message that  the HP Office Jet Pro 8725 cannot be found.

Please uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 
2.) Select your HP Printer 
3.) Select Uninstall 
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’ 
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”) 
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab 
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 
10.) Select Ok 
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows 
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Thanks for your suggestion.

I folowed your instructions ok through to Point 9) When I tried to remove the prionter driver  I got the following message

"Unable to remove HP Officejet Pro 8720 PCL-3, x 64 Type4 - User mode driver. The specfied printer driver is currently in use."

 

Any further suggestions of how to resolve. Thanks - Brian

More info if that helpsDriver HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 PCL-3 (x64) is in use. It is used on:
HPF58361 (HP OfficeJet Pro 8720).

Let's stop the print spooler first

  • Click Start, type Services.msc in the Search box 
  • Right click Printer Spooler in the list and select STOP

Next try uninstalling the printer driver from root level once again and download the full feature software
