Up until recently, my HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 has been working like a dream. This morning, however, I tried to scan a document by loading it into the document feeder and selecting, on the printer's front panel, Scan > Computer > [Computer Name], then selecting "Save as PDF" as the default "Scan Shortcut," and selecting "Send." I have done this dozens of times in the past with no problem. Today, however, the printer scanned the document (it accepted it through the document feeder, no problems there), made all the usual/normal sounds, I got the usual message on the front panel, "The file has been sent to [Computer Name]. Check the computer for more information." But, File Explorer did not open to my scanned documents folder, and the file was not, in fact, scanned to my computer.
I can still print from my computer to the printer, and I can also use the scanning applications on my computer to scan from the printer. However, none of the scanning options on the printer's front panel are working.
I have twice uninstalled all HP applications on my computer, including the printer's drivers, and reinstalled them to see if that would work. I also did a Cold Reset of the printer before reinstalling the HP applications and drivers the second time. None of this helped.
I'm at my wit's end, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to reach out if any additional information is required. Thanks!

You're much welcome @buckaroo54.
Let's try the following steps and let me know how it goes:
- From the Start menu click the Gear icon, select Apps, and uninstall the HP Basic Device Software for your printer.
- From the search bar type CMD, right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
- Copy the following command, then right-click the Command Prompt dialog and select Paste, then press Enter till any command completes processing:
takeown /f %windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository /r /d y
icacls "%windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" /grant %username%:(OI)(CI)F /T
for /d %G in ("%windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\hpesclscan*") do rd /s /q "%~G"
takeown /f %windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository /A /r /d y - If your PC language is not in english, please change y for the takeown command (the first and last command to its corresponding value for yes, such as j for Dutch or o for French
- Download and install the latest HP Basic Device Software for your printer as necessary:

Hi,
Is the printer connected via USB or wirelessly?
May you see any difference when scanning from the front panel using the Flatbed Glass and not the ADF, may the scans are then saved?
Additionally, please go to Start > Settings (Gear icon) > Update & Security > View Update History and click on Uninstall Update, can you see any HP update lately installed by any chance?

Hi ShlomiL,
Thank you for your reply. To answer your questions:
- The printer is connected wirelessly.
- Somehow, you are right, when I scanned from the front panel when the document was on the flatbed glass, it worked! However it still doesn't work from the ADF.
- There are no HP updates listed in the Update History or under Uninstall Update.
Thank you again for your help!

Hi .@ShlomiL,
I followed all of your steps exactly, but when I got to #6, I could not complete the installation of the software. The installer stays on "Installing network device..." for a considerable length of time, and then shows me the following error message:
I tried doing a cold reset of the printer - the software was able to detect the printer, and connect it to the internet, but then hung at the same place.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am able to use HP Scan to scan from the printer, but I am trying to be able to scan using the printer's front panel and document feeder, which I was able to do up until a few days ago.
Thank you for your help!

Hi again .@ShlomiL,
I want to update you that, in fact, your solution worked! What I did was add the printer using the "Devices and Printers" window in Windows, and then I ran the installer to which you sent me the link. The installer then completed the installation successfully! I then tested a scan from the printer's front panel and using the document feeder, and it too worked successfully!
Thank you so much again for your help!
