Cannot Scan with 1200dpi resolution, what I am making wrong?

I cannot scan in 1200dpi resolution. Whether on flatbed nor with ADF. What can I do to get the high resolution?
Is this available only with HP Scan Software or also with scan to email?
I cannot find any combination to get high resultion with 1200dpi.

I already tried the following (on the display of the printer):

1. Scan to Email (on ADF and on flatbed; as jpg and as pdf)

2. Scan to network folder (on ADF and on flatbed; as jpg an as pdf)

3. Scan to PC (on ADF and on flatbed; as jpg an as pdf)

For all this settings, I could not choose 1200dpi. Or is there a general setting to enable the high resolution (1220dpi), because it caused big scan files?

Next I tried to install the "HP Scan" Software, but this installation failed. I do not know why so far... So I was not able to check, if the high resolution with 1200dpi is available in the HP Scan Software.

Is the maximum resolution of 1200dpi for faltbed and the ADF or is it only for the flatbed? What is the real resolution of both hardware parts?

I hope you can help me...

Higher resolutions, where available at all, are accessed through the printer software (and not directly on the printer).

It appears, after checking the Specifications, that the printer software will support Windows 10.

In so much that I am aware, the HP Scan Software should be included in the Full Solution Software.

If the printer software for your Laser Printer works in a similar manner to the software used with inkjet printers, the installation of the software includes a "shortcut icon placed on the desktop and named for the printer" - This is the Printer Assistant. 

Open (double-click) the Printer Assistant > Scan a document or photo 

HP Scan Extended

IF, IF the following will link up with your Full Solution Software, it is a very nice scan software that provides a number of features, including "Auto Detect" that extracts boundaries from documents and images placed on the glass - the clever software can even extract images out of a document placed on the scan glass.  Cute.  Resolution is handled as well - what you can do depends on the printer's capabilities.  If your printer supports 1200 dpi, I would expect that to be found in the software (no guarantees; I am not even sure this works with a Laser printer Full Solution infrastructure).

Note that if your Full Solution Software is new enough, use of the HP Scan Extended is not necessary as the features included in the HPSE software will likely be embedded in your HP Solution > Scan software.  Regardless, installing the HPSE does not harm your installed printer software and does not impact the Full Solution Software environment or its use.

Download, save, and install   HP Scan Extended – Exceptional free HP scan program:  HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image / document boundary).  May include OCR (Save as Editable Text).

NOTES

• HPSE is an older subset of the printer software; features are very similar to scan software included in 2015 or newer Full Feature Software packages.
• If you have the newer version of the scan software inside your Full Feature Software, use that: Printer Assistant shortcut icon on Desktop (named for printer) > Scan a document or image (wording varies).
• Although the HPSE program works as a separate program, HPSE is dependent on the infrastructure provided by the printer software. The Full Feature Software for your printer should be installed before installing HPSE.

For later - another nice software to consider...

NAPS2 -- Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).  Includes OCR.  Download, save, and install to use.

I realize the preceding is a bit vague (incomplete).  I am erring on the side of caution.  Laser Printers are not my specialty - sometimes I do real well in this arena and other times, not-so-much.  Smiling.
