The devices forces a connection with the HP app to scan to email via shortcuts.
In the HP app, there is no option to select an outgoing email server.
In the EWS, there aren't any options for Scan to Email (only scan to USB and Web Scan). There aren't any features related to scanning to turn on. There isn't an option for Quick Sets like I've seen in other trouble shooting discussions.
There is an option for email server in the EWS and I've entered the information into that (and tested it works), but there's no where this information seems to be used.
I'd really like to use the scan to email feature without going through the HP email servers. Obviously I can scan using an application on the computer that doesn't go through email, but I'd really like to use the email feature.

Hello @RunningWater26, Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you've already checked the important settings, and you're right that entering and testing an outgoing email server under General > Email Servers does not necessarily configure the printer's Scan to Email shortcut by itself.
On supported Officejet Pro models with this newer EWS interface, the email server and Scan to Email settings are configured separately:
- Open a web browser and enter your printer's IP address to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
- Go to General > Email Servers and verify the SMTP settings you have already configured.
- Next, look for Scan > Scan to Email. This is where the Scan to Email defaults and related settings are configured on supported models.
- If Scan > Scan to Email is missing entirely on your Officejet Pro 8130e, please don't keep changing the SMTP settings or look for Quick Sets; the menu may differ from other HP printer families.
HP's documented Scan to Email workflow for supported models uses the HP app to enable the email shortcut, then lets you initiate Scan to Email from the printer's control panel. However, I understand that your goal is to send through your own SMTP server rather than HP's email service.

Hi Meghana - Thanks for the reply.
Yes, as mentioned in my post, the "Scan to Email" sub-setting is missing from the EWS. Please see the image in my original post.
And Yes, the "scan to email" feature on the printer seems to use the shortcuts created on the app, but as I mentioned, there is no way to change the the sending email address to be my own email server instead of HP's email service.
The link you provided does not offer any information on how to change this. In fact, the response provided on the post doesn't resolve the question. The response illustrates the 'scan to email' settings in the EWS, which the poster clearly said is not listed. If you review the original post, that user also states that scan to usb and web scan are the only sub-setting under scan on the EWS.
The video link in the referenced post shows options that are not available in the EWS.
Is there different firmware that can be installed for my printer that will allow these options to appear? Or are there other settings I need to turn on to allow these to show in the EWS?
Again, I'm not opposed to using the shortcut feature, but there aren't any options for changing the outgoing email server or other default scan options.
