Ensure the Printer is Properly Set Up:

  • Verify that the printer is connected to your computer or network and that it is powered on.
  • Check that there are no issues with the printer’s connections and settings.

Install the HP Smart App:

  • Install the HP Smart app, which is the recommended software for managing your HP printer and scanner. The app includes all necessary drivers and provides guided setup.
  • Download the HP Smart app from your app store:

Follow the Guided Setup in HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and click Set Up a New Printer or Add Printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the scanner.

Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility to diagnose and fix common scanning issues.
  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor
  • Follow the prompts in the tool to resolve any issues.

Check Scanner Settings:

  • Ensure that the scanner is enabled and correctly configured in the printer settings.
  • Access the settings via the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.

Ensure the Printer is Connected to the Network:

  • Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Check the wireless connection if using Wi-Fi, or ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected if using a wired network.

For macOS Users:

  • Add Scanner Manually:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Click the + button to add a new printer or scanner.
