Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

When printing photos,  I would normally click on "more settings" and change print quality to Best.  Now that is not possible - the dropdown arrow empties the print quality  field, but offers no other step.

I have removed all drivers and the HP app and printer drivers and reinstalled, on both computers accessing this printer, recycled the printer but nothing has changed

I do not see where you mentioned your printer model or operating system/version.

If you did, I may have missed it, or your post failed to include that information.

True - HP Smart app (to be replaced with the new formatted but similar HP App), normally includes "More Settings" and offers a Print Quality setting.

Which options are supported might be impacted by one or more of the following --

===============================

Condition and version of HP Smart / HP App

  •  If uninstalling / reinstalling HP Smart does not help, consider Resetting the application to remove the app's user data and then start fresh.
  • Windows - Reset HP Smart Application

    This action removes the app data without uninstalling the application.

    Settings > Apps > Installed Apps

    Search / Find HP Smart in the apps list

    Open Advanced options > Reset the app

    Restart the computer and log in

    Open HP Smart > Sign in > Add Printer(s)

    What if?

    If the app Reset does not work by itself,

    then

    Uninstall the HP Smart App and start over.

    Restart the computer and log in

    “Get” a new copy of the HP Smart application:

     Microsoft Store or 123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

    Open HP Smart > Sign in > Add Printer(s)

============================

Job Configuration

  • The selected Printer / Print Driver - Main menu, first item "Printer".   Different selections impact how the application handles available settings, including those found / listed in "More Settings".

  • The Shortcut selected in More Settings -- Always select the appropriate Shortcut from the ribbon / list

General Example - HP Smart - Standard app setup - Printer = OfficeJet Pro 9135e

Simple Photo Print

-- Note --

Printer Properties does depend on the full driver having been installed -

Ask if you need help / want details on installing the full driver.

Provide printer model and OS / version

============================

6)  Printer Properties - Windows

Example - Windows - with Full driver printer software installed -

Printer Properties > Tab Advanced > Driver = HP driver and not the IPP / Microsoft driver

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Select your installed printer from the list

Select Printer Properties

Open Tab Advanced

In the Driver section, verify / adjust to the HP driver

Example - Windows - Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver = HP

My printer is an HP Envy 6055e.  I went through those steps, and while it did not solve the problem, it did give me a workaround.  For those rare times when I want to print photos, if I change print quality by going into "print preferences" under the printer itself in "printers and scanners", it carries forward.  I still can't change it for an individual print job - clicking on the dropdown arrow causes the field to become blank.  But that will work for me.

Thank you very much.

You are welcome.

I cannot explain the discrepancy, though it is true that you can impact the settings and shortcuts by editing / changing the selections in Printing Preferences.

Sometimes the "work around it" is the solution that works.
