Hi @Proveloper
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for laying that out so clearly—it really helps. Since your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus can print but won’t scan or copy, we’re likely dealing with a software communication issue or a firmware glitch that’s blocking scan and copy functions.
Let’s walk through a structured fix:
🛠️ Step-by-Step Fix for Scan/Copy Issues on macOS Sequoia
1. Restart Everything
- Power off the printer and unplug it.
- Restart your MacBook Air.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
2. Check Scanner Access from macOS
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus.
- Click the Scan tab and try Open Scanner.
- If it fails, try scanning using Preview or Image Capture apps.
3. Enable “Scan to Computer”
- On the printer’s touchscreen:
- Tap Setup > Preferences > Scan to Computer.
- Make sure it’s enabled.
- If the option is missing, it may require reinstalling HP software.
4. Reinstall HP Software
- Uninstall any existing HP apps or drivers.
- Download the latest full software package for macOS Sequoia from the HP OfficeJet 8600 support page.
- Install and restart your Mac.
5. Run a Copy Test
- Place a document on the scanner bed.
- Press Copy > Black or Color on the printer’s touchscreen.
- If it still doesn’t respond, the issue may be internal hardware or firmware.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- From the HP support page, download the latest firmware.
- Install it via USB or Ethernet using HP’s instructions.
Let me know how far you get—I’ll stick with you until this is sorted! 💪🖨️📄
