wasted 4 hours of my life

 

my fault: i changed my yahoo password which i use for scan to email feature

 

and since then scan to email is messed up, been through so many videos, chat forums, google, youtube, yet no one can fix this?

 

plz plz help

 

every single time i try and ive tried 3 yahoo emails, 2 gmail emails

 

it says

 

Cannot resolve the SMTP server. Check the SMTP and DNS server settings with your system administrator or

The following example is not for your OS nor is it for your printer.

Nonetheless, the information might be useful if you can extrapolate what you need.

 

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check / update / configure your Scan to Email setup and profile.

sadly that doesn't help at all 😞 

 

how much more torture do i have to go through before someone at HP actually wakes up and helps? there is no email, no phone at all? after this experience i will never ever buy another HP product again!

 

also why the hell does the set up have to be this difficult? is beyond me!!!

 

Have seen all links, videos, and documents you sent, totally unhelpful sadly, even seen another forum here where another expert suggested to go to network settings and then change primary and secondary DNS, ive even done that!! do people at HP realise that in this day and age? spending 6-8 hours on this is ridiculous? a

It is unfortunate.

 

I realized when I answered that the provided help might not suffice - my expertise on the general subject not withstanding, I do not use Mac OS nor do I have a Laserjet printer.  Such is the risk of sticking out one's head from the cover of anonymity - sometimes the results make everyone unhappy.

 

DNS / SMTP settings are the realm of the router and the area in which the settings are governed by your network configuration and by the server(s) at the other end of the connection.

 

I shall graciously withdraw at this time since my efforts have only increased your dissatisfaction. 

 

I do hope you find a fix.

 

If I do think of something that I believe is useful, I will edit this message or post back.

thanks for your reply, I’m new to all this! Don’t really understand, are you guys just the community like me, or are you guys HP customer services?

 

and will there ever be a solution to this problem? Or I can give up on my scanning for ever on this dreaded printer? 😞

Experts are owners and users of HP technology who have volunteered to share what we know with other owners and users of HP devices.  Those of us who have earned Expert status are not employees of HP.

Based on what you have explained, I do believe the solution is possible, available, and likely just something that I missed.  The printer is fully capable of supporting the settings in which you are having difficulties.

Reminders

  • Use the serial number of the device to submit the case (do not post that information on the Community).

 

  • Chat is not available in every region.  In those areas where Chat is an option, Chat service hours are likely restricted.  In the event that Chat is not available in your region:  Call the number provided in the HP directory, else submit your case online (to receive phone contact information)

 

  • HP will advise you there is a fee for phone support and / or other services when your computer / device is no longer under warranty.  This is normal business practice.

 

  • HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty.  This is normal business practice.  Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by package.

 

  • If the HP Contact (phone) number is not immediately provided:  Contact information is displayed on your screen after you submit your case online.  

 

  • HP websites are the only ones allowed to use the HP copyright circle/logo.  Look for the copyright on any website claiming to be HP. If in doubt, scroll to the bottom of the Website to find HP copyright logo.

If your product supports your operating system, HP offers your driver and software at no additional cost through the HP website.

 

Use caution when dealing with any website that asks you to pay for HP driver downloads or tools that claim to diagnose your HP products. These websites might not be affiliated with HP in any way.

 

Do not install BIOS updates from a motherboard manufacturer's website. Only install BIOS updates from HP. Installing BIOS updates from the motherboard manufacturer can prevent the computer from accepting an HP system recovery. This could result in a loss of data.

  • If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)
  • Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
  • Enter the Serial Number and Country for one or more devices / systems to be checked
  • Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
  • Click Submit (at bottom of list entries)
  • When the page opens, Click View Details
