Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

DeskJet 3050
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I cannot save the scan to the computer.
The message is: (translated from Dutch [De HP-scantoepassing kan het bestand niet opslaan op de opgegeven locatie]) The HP scanapplication cannot save the file to the given location.

With the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.1 I got three warnings Register-editor: cannot export C:\Users\Kees\Documents\Hp_Backup\hta.reg + \htafile.reg + \FileExts.reg : there has been a failure at writing the file. Maybe there has occurred a disk or file system failure.

HP Print and Scan Doctor at step 2 (Find problems and solve them) everything is allright, up to Windows (WIA) Scan but it stops at HP Twain-scan and does not continue to Register, HP Scan and Testscan.

Up till now the scan was placed in C:\Users\Kees\Documents.

What can I do?

Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link: Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02259020

Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.

• Click the Start menu and in the search field type 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list.
• Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
• From the Start menu or the Start screen:
• Open Devices and Printers.
• Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window.

Step 5. Right click the Start menu and select Run.
Type Services.msc and press OK.
Locate and stop the Print Spooler service

Step 6. Browse to c:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers.
Rename W32X86 to W32x86.old
Rename x64 to x64.old
Note: if any of these folders fail to rename reboot your PC and then Continue following the steps starting from Step 5.

Step 7. Restart PC.

Step 8. Finally, reinstall the HP Software.

Hope that helps!

Probably there is a more fundamental problem:

Reading your instructions for solving my problem I first looked through all steps. I watched the video about step 1 (Uninstall the HP Software from your PC).

Next I saw in the list of instructions a "how-to"-document about backup my registry. I tried to save it (as too long to print) to C:\Users\Kees\Documents\Computer. I got the message "HP PC's - Backing Up, Editing, and Restoring the Windows Registry (Windows 10,8) HP  (R) Customer Support.html Cannot find the file Check the file name and try again".

But I can save it in C:\Users\Kees\Downloads! This has nothing to do with the printer.

The message I get when saving a scan is that "HP scan application cannot save the file in the given location". But there has never been a configuration for the printer in which a location was given.

Nevertheless I will continue with uninstalling and reinstalling the software

Continuation on 30 jan: After uninstalling and installing the HP software again, the problem has not been solved.
It seems to have something to do with Explorer, because in other cases there is an impossibility to save anything except to "Downloads" of "This pc" and no changing of name.

Perhaps you can do something with this information.

Maybe a full new installation of Windows 10?

addition: I just succeeded in saving a scan from the printer to the computer: it was saved as C:\Users\Kees\Documents\Scan[next serial number].pdf.

So, as yet, probably the new installation of the HP Software has given a good result.

Just an addition: the problem of not being able to save a file to a specific location was caused by the "Controlled Folder Access" in Virus Security of Windows. When I put it on Out, the problem was solved. It seems, as I read at Microsoft Community, that this part of Windows does not function well.
