This printer has worked fine for many years and still does except for creating a scan from my desktop. I can print from my computer and can make copies on the printer so I know the scanner is operational. For some reason about a week ago When I clicked on the HP Envy icon to open that program, instead of starting the usual program a "Printer Setup & Software" window opens and "Connect a new printer" is highlighted. I thought if I could just click on that and reinstall the printer, but when I do it opens a new window and the only option I am given is to continue without connecting now. When I check this option and click next it exits the program. I tried the HP installation disc that came with the printer but it is for Windows 8 and I can't access it for security reasons. Does anyone know how I can scan from my desktop again?
