HP Photosmart e-All-in-One Printer - D110a
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm using a HP Photosmart E All in One Printer- D110a. It is an older printer.  I have always had no issues with scanning. Now trying to scan from the printer directly to computer it gives me the message " Try Scan to computer".  I go to scan from the HP Support and i get " Hp Smart cannot scan from this printer. Either no scanner detected or HP Smart not compatible". It does allow me to go into advanced settings and use the WEBSCAN. it does scan my picture that is in the printer. It tells me to right click the image to save to computer, but it doesn't save to my computer. I'm not sure what WEBSCAN is and if it is safe to use.  Is this problem because my printer is an old one?              Thank you for any help

Hi @Katmay

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are unable to scan the computer. I'd like to help!

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would need a few details.

Is this the first time you are using this printer with a windows 11 pc or did it work before?

You may refer to this link here for compatibility.

Meanwhile, try the steps below.

Download and run an HP Print and Scan Doctor:

The tool diagnoses and resolves common scanning problems and communication problems. Follow these steps to download, and then run the tool.

Step one: Download the tool

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

I have had no problems with scanning from my HP Office Jet Pro 8025e to my HP Envy PC for about 2 year, but now suddenly it won´t work. I have tried all the usual solutions proposed by HP and Windows. I have a Windows operating system (10 or 11?).

Unfortunately I have also  installed "HP Smart" which is anything but smart, but necessary to operate my second HP printer, a new 6030 model (with no scanner included). I suspect that the HP Smart program is blocking scanning from the Office Jet 8025 printers scanning mode. The message I get from HP Print Doctor reads (translated from Danish by me) "HP Smart cannot scan from this printer. Either no scanner is registered or HP Smart is not compatible with the scanner in this printer". I am trying to avoid this kind of mix up by using only HP products, but it seems to create the opposite effect!

Hi @Erling3

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are unable to scan. I'd like to help!

Follow the steps below to isolate and resolve the issue-

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printer connectivity issues.

For more information, go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/topic/printscandoctor

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue persists, I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

8). Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for the HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer, and try scanning.

Keep me posted.
