Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
Officecjet 8600 Pro
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Had the printer for a few years. To start with, scan to computer worked.

Then it would work after a pc reboot for a period before stopping.

Now I cant get it working at all.

I *think* this ties in with a firmware update the printer did automatically.

Trying to enable scan to computer in HP Utility, it says "Communication Error. Unable to comminucate with device".

However printing and scanning from the pc is working fine, so the printer is communicating. Also, HP Utility can see other things such as ink levels.

Suggestions welcome.

Hey @Ian_O,

I see that you are having some issues with scanning from your Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer to your Mac OSX 10.11 machine. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. If the printer is connected to your Mac through a USB cable, remove it.
  2. Click on your Apple icon, System Preferences, and Printers and Scanners.
  3. Hold down the control panel and click on the icon of your printer on the left.
  4. Click on Reset Printing System.
  5. Open Applications, Hewlett-Packard, and run the HP Uninstaller.
  6. Restart your Mac.
  7. Download the latest drivers by clicking on this link.

At this point you should be able to both print and scan. If you are still unable to scan, please let me know how the printer is connected to your Mac and I will be able to assist you further.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to scan, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

Thanks for the reply.

For now, it seems to be working. But I seem to recall going through this before so I dont know how long the fix will last.

I have the same problem. How would I do this on a PC using Windows 7 and Photosmart 6510 printer?

I

I am having the same problem.  My iMac is connected wireless.  Everything says the computer and printer are connected.  But the only thing I can do is print.  Neither Scan to Computer nor Scan to E-Mail is working.

I get the error messages:

"Photosmart 7520 series [FDC0FA] is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later."

and

"Unable to connect to Web Services.  Confirm Internet access and try again"

For some time the Scan to E-Mail was working and now neither work.  I can scan to a Jump Drive and transfer to my computer, but that is all.

The printer is about 4 years old and has otherwise worked fine.
