Hello,

I am getting an error when I attempt scan to computer from the printer panel. I ran the " HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.6.4" and it ran through the " Finding and Fixing Problems" step. It got to " Front Panel Test" and then told me the  " tool has detected a problem with the printer Front Panel screen settings. Start HP Solution Center, then choose " Settings"..> "  Scan Settings" > "Scan to ....... Setup" and add the available scan shortcuts to the printer Front panel list to resolve this problem."

I can't find anywhere to download the HP Solution Center. Can anyone help me to fix the error given by the Print and Scan Doctor?

Welcome to the HP User Community.

Old driver is Gone

We see occasional questions about older printers for which the software installation packages cannot be found for current or past versions of Windows.

The software for this printer is no longer listed as available from HP.

When available, install the Windows print drivers.

Reference HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver

Note:  Windows Print Drivers – when available – provide basic print function.

What happened?

HP has removed the printer old printer software for this and other similarly aged printers.

HP removes software due to support or security reasons.

NOTES

The Doctor program does not generally understand that missing software is not available.

Instead of just exiting and saying, "Nope, not there", the doctor software might hang or spin.

What next?

Unless you saved a copy of the download for the software, you will have to look for it elsewhere.

For example,

  • Someone (here or elsewhere) might have a private archive of the software installation package they will share.
  • You might find it on the 'net in one of the websites that specialize in archiving software for old printers.

Use caution when downloading any content from the Internet.  Not sure?  Don't touch it.

 What else?

If you can find no other options, this company specializes in Scan software for unsupported printers.

 What else?

The following might work ...

NAPS2 – “Not Another PDF Scanner” (Free – Donations gladly accepted by the NAPS2 organization)

  • Download-Save-Install >  NAPS2
  • Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
  • Not always simple “Plug and Play”, nonetheless, this free software is powerful and configurable.
