So few details provided - the following is necessarily "general".

FIRST and Important:

You need to know the full and actual model name of your printer so you can find help.

Part of this is knowing whether your printer even has a "fax" built into the printer.

To determine whether your printer includes a Fax,

After you find and open your printer support pages:

Open Category Product Information > Select Specifications > open the specification sheet for your (or similar) printer

Next...

Nearly everything known about your fax are included in your printer's user manual and in the how-to / troubleshooting categories.  Unlike some "canned responses", this is actually true for Fax

What to do?

You need to narrow down the reason for the failure and then determine when any of the proposed solutions work to resolve the problem.

For example

USA residents have the option to run the Fax Test to determine whether fax is working.

Do Read your User Guide > Fax chapter

What else?

Open category How to > Select Topic Fax

AND

Open category Troubleshooting > Select Topic Fax

What else?

If your printer is on your network, you might be able to use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to view / configure your printer.

Example:

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Fax > Basic Fax Settings

IF applicable for your printer model:

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Fax > HP Digital Fax
