Hi @PBUS

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like the change in your workflow might be related to how your email client (Outlook) interacts with your HP printer’s scanning software.

Let’s troubleshoot and potentially restore your ability to send scanned documents directly via email:

1. Reconfigure the HP Printer Email Settings

On your printer’s control panel, go to the Scan or Email menu (depending on your printer model).

Ensure the printer's email feature is configured to use your email account:

You may need to sign in with your Outlook credentials to link the printer to your email.

2. Check Your Default Email Application

Windows often requires the default email app to be set correctly for scanners to send documents directly:

Open Settings > Apps > Default Apps.

Scroll to the "Email" section and ensure Outlook is selected as the default email application.

Restart your computer to apply changes.

3. Repair or Reinstall Outlook

If Outlook has recently updated or changed, its integration with other programs (like your HP printer) might be disrupted. Try the following:

Repair Outlook:

Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and click Repair.

If repairing doesn’t help, uninstall and reinstall Outlook.

4. Update Printer Software

Outdated HP printer software might not fully support the changes in how Outlook operates:

Visit the HP Support website Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support and download the latest printer driver and scanning software for your printer model.

Install the updates and restart both your computer and printer.

5. Use the HP Smart App for Scanning

The HP Smart App has built-in email functionality that might bypass the need for direct Outlook integration:

Open the app on your computer or mobile device.

Use the scanning feature and select "Send via Email" to send documents directly without saving them locally.

6. Reauthorize Email Access

If Outlook has introduced new security or permissions, reauthorizing email access might help:

Log in to your Microsoft account (associated with Outlook) and review third-party app permissions.

Ensure your HP printer or scanning software is authorized to send emails.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
