Office Jet Pro 9018
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

purchased a new printer and after  installing the software on the computer am able to print without a problem , when I  scan a

document and try to print, I get a message the document will not fit on paper selected.  I did not select 4"X8" but that is what it says is loaded in the tray but actually have letter size 8.5"X11" in tray.  I have tried everything I know to change paper size but it will not do so.  I have print a lot with it on other programs and it works fine.

Try / Consider

Remove the paper from the tray, flex (do not fan), replace the paper into the tray.

Regardless of what the printer control message says, click to "modify" and (re) select your paper size > OK

Paper Setting on Printer Control Panel

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Panel

Open Printer Tray,

If you have not yet done so, add desired paper type

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

On the printer control panel, Click Modify (wording varies), set the paper size and type, Click OK

NOTE:  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

=======================================================================

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check / adjust the default paper type / size.

EWS requires that the printer be on your network...

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

First, check Scan > Webscan settings

It is understood that you are not using Webscan - just make sure the paper size is not set to something "odd".

Next, check / adjust Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management

NOTE:  Check / Adjust the settings in Advanced, too.

Click Apply to save any changes.

Example - EWS - Officejet Pro 9025 - Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management

9025_EWS_Preferences_Tray_and_Paper_Management_19025_EWS_Preferences_Tray_and_Paper_Management_1

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Open the HP Scan software on the computer

Set / adjust the Page Size to either the size of your paper, or to "Detect Content on Page"

Example - Officejet Pro 9025 - HP Scan > Menu Options

9025_HP_Scan_Menu_19025_HP_Scan_Menu_1
