Can HP Smart create a direct shortcut for a special type of scanned files (image or document) to a different destination on the computer than the default? Which was possible in the earlier HP Scan and Capture app?

Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
You can manually change the destination for your scanned files in the HP Smart app by following these steps:
To change the scan destination in HP Smart:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
- Click on "Scan" in the app.
- Select the scan settings (color, quality, etc.).
- Click on the "Settings" icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Under "Save to", click "Change" to choose a different folder.
- Select the desired folder or create a new one for your scanned files.
- Once set, all future scans will save to the newly selected destination.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Thank you, Garp_senchau, for your answer.
Unfortunately I can't follow your description because it doesn't look like what you describe to me (or I don't understand 😉). I don't have item 3 when I open the app and thus item 4 either. It looks like this. I hope you can interpret the text even though it is in Swedish.

Thank you for your response.
Usually, when you connect a scanner to your computer, Windows PC saves scanned documents in either the "My Documents" or "My Scans" folder by default.
You can try out the following step:
- Access the printer data/details
- Click on the printer. Then, click on "SCAN" and select "Scan a Document or Photo."
- In the "Scan Shortcut Settings" section, click on "More."
- Under "Detailed Shortcut Settings," click on "Destination."
- Here, you can click the "Browse" button to search through File Explorer and select the folder you want to use. You can also choose different folders for PDF and JPEG formats.
Also, you can refer to this guide to check the HP Scan app shortcuts: HP printers - Using Shortcuts in the HP Smart app | HP® Support
I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Thanks, Garp_Senchau, for the tip and the offer. However, my spoken English is not good enough for me to benefit from the tip.
Instead I will try to follow the guide you gave me:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4129352-4129404-16
According to it, you can only save the scanned file in the cloud. I want to save it to :
C:\Users\hpwso\Disgen\Data folder\DgPic.
Is that even possible? And how?
I want to change the language of my HP Smart app to English. How do I do that?

Hi again, Garp_Senchau!
Meanwhile I found a way to change language of the HP Smart-app. (You have to change language of the whole system).
Then I went back to your answer 02-27-2025 11:42 AM and tried to follow your description
1) Access the printer data/details
2) Click on the printer.
3) Then, click on "SCAN"
4) and select "Scan a Document or Photo."
Than it´s stop. I can´t find the "Scan Shortcut Settings" section in the following and consequently neither "More" and the following positions "Detailed Shortcut Settings," and "Destination." And no “Browse” button either to search through file explorer.
Would you be so kind and make a nwe try to guide me to my destination?
K.r.
