Hi there,
I am using an OfficeJet4630 printer on a MacBook (Big Sur o/s). I completed a test fax and there were many lines on the test page, rendering the page almost illegible. The results of the test fax were that the 'facsimile transmit level is 5.5 db too high'. How do I change this and what do I change it to? Secondly, how do I change the subscriber identity format (it says there is a 'transmitting subscriber identity format error).
Thank you 🙂
Geri

Hi @GeriA1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I'd like to help!
I understand you are fax quality issue.
To assist better -Does the copy print out the same way?
If yes, then try the steps in the document- Fixing Poor Print Quality
If no, Try the below suggestions -
Reduce fax transmission speed
Reduce fax transmission speed to increase the likelihood of successful fax and to improve fax quality, at the cost of longer transmission times.
-
On the printer control panel, open the Basic Fax Settings, Advanced Fax Settings, or Preferences menu.
-
Select Speed, and then select Slow.
Turn on Error Correction Mode
Error Correction Mode (ECM) detects transmission errors and automatically requests retransmission of erroneous data. Depending on the quality of the phone lines, ECM can improve fax quality. Make sure ECM is on.
-
On the printer control panel, open the Basic Fax Settings, Advanced Fax Settings, or Preferences menu.
-
Select Error Correction Mode, and then make sure the setting is turned On.
Try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Also, you may refer to-HP printers -Improve fax quality
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
