I have seen other posts on this, but my newly purchased Envy 4520 does not appear to have an option for increasing photo scan resolution beyond default 200. Not listed under "more" in dialog. Please advise.

Use scanning software on your computer when you want to adjust / increase the scan resolution. Scanning from the printer panel provides only basic functions.
Printer Homepage
Drivers, Software and Videos, How-to, Troubleshooting, Manuals, Product Information, and more:
HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer series
Download and Instructions: Full Feature Software
After the software is installed > Restart the computer and log in
Use the printer software:
Printer Assistant shortcut icon on the Desktop named for the printer >
Scan a Document or Photo > Photo to File / PDF to File (wording varies) >
Adjust Resolution as available >
CHECK Show Scan Preview >
Set other parameters (Scan Size, other tabs) > Print
EDITS - Removed image - member did not find the Printer Assistant example relevant.
Download, Save, Install and use HP Scan Extended software
NOTE:
Your printer's scan program may a be newer version (than this software).
Place item on glass > Click on HP Scan Extended shortcut >
Select the type of scan: PDF or Photo (image)
Click More > Image > Select Resolution as available

Images on your reply are for 7520 series printer/scanner. Mine is an Envy 4520. Tried deleting and reloading complete drivers. Still do not find any mention of resolution on scanner. Only options are document or photo. Is it possible this model is too cheap to include control over scanning of photos?

I have removed the example image from the previous post. It was meant as a general example only -- I do understand the image is perhaps not relevant to printers sold after 2015.
Perhaps your Printer Full Feature Software Scan program looks more like the HP Scan Extended package.

I find evidence that the Envy 4520 software does support changing the resolution when using the Printer software on the printer and / or the HP Scan Extended program.
I cannot test this for you; I do not have your printer model hardware and must depend on partially installed software and extracted program files.

You need to select the DPI before you start scanning. Right after you open the Scan Software, click on the format you'd like to have, then click MORE>, Image, and select the desired DPI. If you try to do this after you started scanning, the dpi button will be disabled.
The software of this printer/this website are extremely poorly made. I feel like my 15years old hp printer had a better software than this brand new. How did they manage to make it so much worse?
