Change "HP App> Scan" Default Destination Folder & Filename

On my Macbook Pro (using a HP MFP m477fnw printer), I want to use the HP App"Scan" function instead of using HP Easy Scan or OSX generic scanner for multiple reasons (e.g. HP App actually interfaces with my default email program correctly).  But the ONE thing I can't find on the HP App "Scan" feature is how to change the default destination (save) folder when I'm scanning.

It DOES allow me to RECHOOSE each time, but neither remembers the last used location, nor shows any way to change the default destination folder.

Is there any way?

Well, there is a way to do part of it perhaps: HP App Shortcuts

Not sure about your particular printer.  My Laser printer skill set is limited...

The following does explain the "select the destination" setup using Shortcuts (formally Smart Tasks).

and select the link to open the document on Shortcuts

For example

HP App Shortcuts (formally Smart Tasks) for Windows and HP App Mobile

Where available, Smart Tasks can be configured for several print tasks.

• Print: Send a print job to your printer.
• Email: Send an email message or attachments.
• Save to: Save a file to a cloud storage account, such as Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.

Will that work?

Maybe it will be enough.  After the scan is done, click in HP App to start a Shortcut and select your saved Shortcut.

Unfortunately, not only would the shortcut be a separate step, but the Save To shortcut only allows saving to cloud-based destinations, not local folders.

Hence the “maybe”.

The application is indeed less robust than the full driver in some ways.
