Each time I scan to my computer I change the default save location from Documents to Desktop (which makes sure I file them properly). When I exit HP Scan I select to save the settings, but each time I use HP Scan again they have reverted to Documents. 

Any ideas on how to permanently change the default save location?

This is just what I have been doing, with the addition of saving the formatting when exiting the software (which doesn't seem to be mentioned). But still when I use the program again I have to respecify the location - thus it saves the save location but not the default save location.

Yes, it's true that the Scan destination cannot be "permanent". 😞

 

If you would like an alternative 3rd party scan software, Vuescan would be a good option.

 

Download the software at 

https://www.hamrick.com/

 

It has the "Save to default folder" option once it's setup.

Thanks It's useful to know that the fault is in the software company not behind my keyboard. 
I can never understand why these people don't get out in the world enough to know what their customers want, I'll certainly give Vuescan a try.
