Hi @ODanaO,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to clean under the scanner glass of an HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-In-One Printer, which requires removing the glass panel, which can be a delicate process. Here are the steps to safely remove and clean under the scanner glass:
Tools Needed
- A clean, lint-free cloth or microfiber cloth
- Glass cleaner (ammonia-free)
- Small Phillips screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver or a plastic opening tool
Steps to Remove the Scanner Glass
Power Off and Unplug the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source to ensure safety.
Open the Scanner Lid:
- Lift the scanner lid to its fully open position.
Locate and Remove Screws:
- Look for screws that hold the scanner glass in place. These are typically found around the edges of the scanner bed.
- Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove these screws carefully. Keep them in a safe place.
Detach the Scanner Glass Frame:
- Once the screws are removed, the glass is usually held in place by clips or a frame.
- Use a flat-head screwdriver or a plastic opening tool to gently pry the frame away from the glass. Be careful not to apply too much force to avoid cracking the glass.
Lift the Glass:
- Carefully lift the scanner glass. It might be helpful to have someone assist you in holding the printer steady.
- If the glass is still held by any adhesive strips or clips, gently detach these without breaking the glass.
Cleaning the Glass
Clean the Scanner Glass:
- Spray the glass cleaner onto a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not spray directly onto the glass to avoid liquid seeping into the scanner mechanism.
- Wipe the underside of the glass thoroughly to remove any dust, smudges, or debris.
Clean the Inside Surface:
- If needed, clean the inside surface of the scanner where the glass sits.
Reassembling the Scanner
Reposition the Scanner Glass:
- Carefully place the scanner glass back into its original position. Ensure it sits flat and correctly aligned.
Reattach the Frame and Screws:
- Reattach any clips or frames that were removed.
- Replace and tighten the screws that hold the glass in place.
Close the Scanner Lid:
- Lower the scanner lid back to its normal position.
Power On the Printer:
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Perform a test scan to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
Precautions
- Avoid Using Excessive Force: Be gentle when removing and handling the glass to prevent damage.
- Use Proper Cleaning Agents: Only use ammonia-free glass cleaners and lint-free cloths to prevent streaks and damage to the glass.
- Work in a Dust-Free Environment: To avoid introducing more dust while cleaning, work in a clean, dust-free area.
