I have a hp DeskJet 2650 printer.

When I copy a document the print starts about an inch down the page, and cuts off the foot of the document.  Adjusting the placement of the  original ensures the bottom is cut off since it goes below the scan area

Hi @nathanrebelsky,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP DeskJet 2650 printer, where the copy starts about an inch down the page and cuts off the bottom, is likely related to the scanner alignment or settings. Here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Check Original Document Placement:

  • Ensure the original document is aligned properly on the scanner glass. Place it flush against the top left corner or as indicated by the alignment marks on the scanner bed.

Adjust Copy Settings:

  • Access the copy settings on the printer. Some printers allow you to adjust margins or scaling. Ensure the settings are set to 100% or 'actual size' to avoid any scaling issues.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve unexpected issues. Check the HP website for any firmware updates for the DeskJet 2650.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor glitches.

Check for Obstructions or Dirt:

  • Clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth (not directly on the glass). Any dirt or debris on the scanner glass can affect the scanning and copying process.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Use the built-in diagnostic tools to check for any issues. This can often be accessed via the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
