I have used this Toshiba Satellite P55W-C laptop computer sucessfully for scanning and printing since I got it 6 months ago, and had a very easy setup. They are fully compatible.
Printing currently works fine.
I was in the middle of scanning a 7-page document on the feedbed as a TIF file, (which I've successfully done many times before) when it quit scanning. I had to pull page out of printer.
I was able to click on new scan and go into the properties a couple times, but it still wouldn't complete the scan.
Now as soon as I click on 'new scan' I get a pop-up that says 'unable to complete scan'.
I am able to complete the scan with my 5-year old HP G72 laptop (after the hour-long boot up time), so scanner is fine.
What happened to my computer??

They were always wirelessly connected.
I did solve the problem, after paying Best Buys Geek Squad $100 to sign up for a program.
He remotely accessed my computer. He had to delete all the drivers for my printer, and then reloaded them and it worked fine. I thought that I had done this, but all I had done was delete the printer from the list of printers and devices. I had not actually got into the program list, and deleted all the driver and related information.
I hope that this can help somebody else.
