Crisp Black Hand Lettering

Tips for my black Calligraphy...What is the difference between Scan Picture OR Scan Documents...Then do I go 200 300 or 600 dpi...Is JPEG best?...When I scan my original art my scan doesn't print out black and crisp...Amazing!! is every once in a while it's perfect and I don't know what I did right!

I see that you would like to know how to scan your calligraphy work to your computer and the scans are not always crisp and precise. I would scan your calligraphy work with 600 dpi or greater in TIFF or PDF file format. As a photo, rather than a document. The file size will increase, but the quality would improve greatly.

Drakstar.....May I tell you how beautiful my calligraphy scanned with the instructions you gave me...........I do have a few questions.....1. Is the output "Color"...( that is the default) should  that ever be changed?

                           2. I clicked TIF image.....What is TIF image compressed?

                            3. Would you recommend checking the "Enhanced Color" option?

                              4. Also the "restore faded color" option?

Another thing......you mentioned originally tif or pdf............I found no pdf option ???

You're welcome! 

1. I would leave the output as color unless you require a color image to be scanned onto your computer in black & white.
2. TIFF Image compressed: Using TIFF compression will not degrade your image quality and reduces the file size.
3. Enhanced Color option: I would use this if you are scanning a high-resolution image with beautiful colors.
4. Restore faded color: Tries to perform color correction.
5. PDF would only be available if selecting: Scan document.

In your case, I would use "Scan photo" as TIFF or TIFF compressed.
