HP ENVY 6032e All-in-One Printer

I don't have macO 12.0 Monterey. I have Sonoma 14.5, and I don't have thhe Envy 6032e, I have the 6000, but HP support seems to be broken and does not give me the Sonoma option, or seem capable of remembering that I changed my printer last year.

My problem is that the device keeps scanning, automatically, every 6 minutes or so. It has been doing this for weeks. It only stops if it is turned off or it is offline.

HP support has been utterly useless, even when I can get through to them, on chat or phone. Usually however, if I attempt to sign into my account, I get error message 400, or a surreal warning that I am in the wrong  country (I am in the UK, bought the printer in the UK).

Please do not answer this question if you are not sure what the word 'automatic' means, because trying to explain it to a HP employee, who kept asking me what it was I was trying to scan has left me in a very delicate emotional state.

Thank you.

Hi @oldredhen,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP ENVY 6000 series printer continuously scanning automatically every 6 minutes. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Start by turning off your HP ENVY 6000 printer and unplugging it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This simple step can sometimes resolve temporary issues.
  • Check Printer Settings: Access the printer's settings menu through its control panel or the HP Smart app on your device. Look for any settings related to automatic scanning or scheduled tasks and disable them if enabled.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve issues like this. You can usually check for updates through the printer's settings menu or HP's support website.
  • Reset Printer: If the issue persists, you may want to consider resetting your printer to its factory defaults. This will erase any custom settings and configurations, so make sure to note down any important settings before proceeding.
  • Check for Interference: Ensure that there are no external factors causing the printer to initiate scans automatically. Nearby electronic devices, Wi-Fi interference, or even physical obstructions near the printer can sometimes trigger unexpected behavior.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your advice. I've already tried most of what you suggest but nothing works. Can you tell me how to set back to default settings?  I haven't tried that yet.  Also, can you tell me how I make a claim under the warranty? I will have to replace the device if the fault contnues.

Hi @oldredhen,

Thank you for your response,

Sure, resetting your HP ENVY 6000 series printer to its default settings may help resolve the issue with continuous scanning. Here's how you can do it.

Reset via Printer Control Panel:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the "Setup" or "Settings" menu.
  • Look for an option like "Restore Defaults," "Reset," or "Factory Reset."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm and execute the reset process.

Reset via Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser on a computer or mobile device connected to the same network as your printer.
  • Enter the printer's IP address in the address bar and press Enter. You can find the printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page from the printer.
  • Once logged into the Embedded Web Server (EWS) of your printer, navigate to the "Settings" or "Tools" section.
  • Look for an option to reset the printer to factory defaults or restore default settings.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm and execute the reset process.

Physical Reset (Hard Reset):

  • Turn off your printer and disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds to allow any residual power to drain from the printer.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.
  • If your printer has a removable battery (if applicable), you can also remove the battery for a few minutes before reinstalling it.

After performing the reset, the printer will return to its original factory settings, and any custom configurations, including network settings and scanning preferences, will be erased. You'll need to reconfigure the printer, including reconnecting it to your network, after the reset.

If the issue persists after resetting the printer to its default settings, it's possible that there may be a hardware or firmware issue with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
