- [Dekjet 2050a] Scanner driver logic: waste of time on unnece...

The Deskjet 2050a - j510 scan driver is defective by design:
In the grayscale and b/w modes, and in the color mode with dpi set over 300, the scanner preforms 4 actions:
- 1st: moves carriage to another side from the side where it sleeps, and searches for the white control line
- 2nd: moves carriage back, the lights are on, so I assume it takes some kind of preview
- 3rd: performs actual scan
- 4th: moves carriage to the initial place
In the color mode, with dpi upto 300 it performs only 2 actions: (which is great)
- 1st: actual scan
- 2nd: carriage return
What do I want? -- Take a scan within only 2 moves!
How do I see it?
Option A: With 2 steps logic, which is implemented for the color mode with dpi upto 300.
Option B: Remove the 1st and 4th steps from the first situation. The 1st and 4th moves are unnecessary, and waste time for nothing. I don't actually blame the driver for taking a preview for internal purposes, but in that case, make the carriage rest-place be on that side of scanner, where it starts preview capture from.
I know the hardware is 5 years old now, but the issue is horrible/terrible anyway, and worth solving.
P.S. The driver verion is 28.0.1287.0 from September 12 2012, which was destributed in v28.8 August 16 2014 packege.

Hi @TheBookReaper,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that the unit is taking more time to scan in black/white mode and less time in color mode.
This is how this printer is designed to scan.
However, you may contact the HP phone support at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp if you want to upgrade the unit to the latest model as it is 5 years old.
You have a good day ahead.
