Hi Pcwizard,
I have Microsoft XP home edition with service pack 3.
However, I think it's irrelevant as to why the printer doesn't copy.
The copy feature is not controlled by the computer but is a feature
of the printer itself.
I have the HP Laserjet 3050. I got it used. So I'm not sure if the
scanning/copying mechanism is damaged (the glass inside the printer)?
I got it to print ok. It just when it scans the pdf file / image file generated is
blank (pure white). I tried to adjust the color resolution etc.. doesn't seem to help.
If I decrease the brightness to darker, it shows a black image but no text content.
The same for using the copy feature. It just prints out a dark image or a
page fill with dark ink , no textual content.
Let me know if it's a hardware issue and that it's a bad part that needs to be
replaced?

Hi wilpowr2k,
If you are unable to make a standalone copy from the printer then yes you are having a hardware failure with the unit. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

Printer copied black & color documents without any problem when used HP black & color cartridges. Installed refilled HP black cartridge. Now printer doesn't copy black or color at all. Display goes from x0 to x1 to x0. Printer prints ok from computer. Updated driver. Running Window XP SP3. Is this a printer hardware problem?

Hi shakaz808,
It sounds like you have a defective remanufactured cartridge. Replace the cartridge to resolve the issue.

I bought an hp 3050 deskjet printer, and it was the worst product i would have bought,
it wastes a lot of ink, the ink its super expensive, i didnt have problems with it until 1 year,
but if you wont like to spend 30 to 60 dlls each month for ink, i wouldnt recommend it,
also the hp computer's display drive fails after 3 years or so.
