We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Try the complete uninstall/reinstall set out by Jay_G24 on 19 July - it takes a while to do but does work.  (Choose the HP package to be reinstalled to match the one you're using.)

I also found a reply dated 11 June 2017 to @Luthiensdad headed "Printer shows multiple times in HP Print and Scan Doctor" which set out a clean install by a different route - that works too.

But there's obviously a recent software glitch with HP Smart which can't be blamed on any Windows 10 update - is HP trying to sort this out, please?

If all else fails, install HP Scan and Capture as a temporary work around for the scanning problem.

I have installed the software again and now I can scan form the installed application that comes with it. But when I reinstall HP Smart I still get the same error message: Scanner is unavailable

Try the solution from Jay_G24 on 24 July '21: essentially uninstall HP Smart, check for and install all Windows updates, reload all HP drivers, then reinstall HP Smart from Microsoft Store.  Worked for me.

That's exactly what I did too but it still failed

This isn't helpful I'm afraid.
My printer - MFP 179mw is connected via USB and it is still giving the same error.
Please do something about it post-haste, as I now have a brand new printer sitting here that's better used as a doorstop.
Can you fix this software issue please?

Printing out a document via word works perfectly, but scanning the documents I need to scan today, is not working. HP Smart App continually states that "the device could not be reached". Just great when you have an important day.

If the issue persists, I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.
