Hi @sharpo367
Thank you for responding.
To schedule your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 to turn on automatically in the morning or adjust how quickly it goes into sleep mode, you can use the built-in power management settings on the printer's control panel.
Schedule the Printer to Wake Up / Turn On Automatically
You can set a daily schedule so the printer turns On at a specific time in the morning and Off at night:
- On the printer control panel, swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard.
- Touch the Setup icon (gear).
- Touch Schedule On/Off.
- Touch the toggle button next to Schedule On to enable it.
- Touch the time option and follow the on-screen prompts to select the days and time you want the printer to turn on (for example, 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday).
- (Optional) Toggle Schedule Off to set an automatic evening turn-off time (for example, 6:00 PM).
Change Sleep Mode Settings (Keep Awake Longer)
By default, the printer enters Sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity to save electricity. You can extend the inactivity timeout so it stays fully awake longer before sleeping:
- Swipe down the tab at the top of the control panel screen to open the Dashboard.
- Touch the Setup icon (gear).
- Touch Sleep Mode.
- Touch your preferred longer time option.
How Sleep Mode & Network Connection Work
- Auto-Wake on Print Jobs: When the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB, it stays connected to your network even in Sleep mode and will automatically wake up as soon as you send a print job from your computer or mobile device.
- Auto-Off: If connected to a wireless or Ethernet network, the printer's Auto-Off feature (which turns the printer completely off after 8 hours) is automatically disabled, allowing it to stay in connected Sleep mode ready to receive jobs
Have a good day.

Hi @sharpo367
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
I understand that the printer can be installed successfully and HP Scan works immediately after reinstallation, but after restarting the PC, you receive the message "HP Imaging Device Not Found." Since the issue started only about two months ago after previously working without issues since 2021, I'd like to gather a few more details to help isolate the cause. I would request you to please share me the picture of the error dispalyed. Meanwhile, I would request you to please follow the steps:
Restart the Printer and Computer
- Turn off your printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
- Restart your computer and reconnect the printer.
Check HP Scan Extended Settings
- Open HP Scan Extended and go to Settings → Scanner Selection.
- Ensure your HP OfficeJet 4650 is selected as the default scanner.
Verify Windows Services
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Locate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and ensure it’s set to Automatic.
- Restart the service if needed.
Reinstall HP Scan Extended
- Uninstall HP Scan Extended from your computer.
- Download and reinstall the latest version from HP’s support page.
Update Printer Drivers
- Open Device Manager and expand Imaging Devices.
- Right-click your printer and select Update Driver.
- Install any available updates.
Reset the Printer.
- On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm the reset and allow the printer to restart.
This information will help determine whether the issue is related to the HP scanning software, the scanner driver, or a Windows service not initializing properly after startup.
Take care and have an amazing day!
