HP colour laser jet MFP M283fdw

I scan docs using the document feeder. A fault has developed whereby I can use the document feeder and it will pull all the pages through individually as it should, but when the scan appears on the computer screen, it is missing pages. the small screen display on the printer still says "scanning in progress" even though it's finished scanning and only some pages have pulled through to the computer. Is there a software upgrade that might help?

Thanks

Hi @francesporter,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw scanner, where not all scanned pages are appearing on the computer screen despite being pulled through individually. To address this issue, you can try the following steps.

  • Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware and scanning software are up to date. You can visit the official HP support website, enter your printer model, and look for any available software updates or drivers.
  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Connection: Ensure that the connection between your computer and the printer is stable. If you're using a USB connection, try using a different USB port. If it's a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi connection is stable.
  • Scan Settings: Verify the scan settings on your computer. Make sure that the selected settings match your scanning preferences, and ensure that there are no limitations set on the number of pages to be scanned.
  • Scanner Driver Reinstallation: Uninstall the existing scanner driver on your computer and reinstall it. This can help resolve any corrupted driver issues.
  • Reset the Printer: Check your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset. This can often resolve various issues with the device.

Remember to back up any necessary settings or configurations before performing any major updates or resets.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
