Just purchased Laserjet MFP 3101fdw. The automatic document feeder works when copying, but not when scanning. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Hi @davistax,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it must be when a feature works in one mode but not in another. Let's see if we can resolve this issue so the automatic document feeder works for scanning as well.
Try these steps.
Open the control panel and search for "Scanners and cameras", then click Vied scanners and cameras.
Select the listed device and press Scan Profiles.
Edit the listed profiles and ensure its Source is set to Feeder rather than Flatbed.
Confirm the changes and check if you see any difference.
Refer to this document and run Print and Scan Doctor.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I see none of those items anywhere in the control panel on either the computer (Windows 11) or the printer/scanner. I should mention that I am initiating the copy & the scan from the menu on the printer/scanner, not from the computer.
