Hi @djsmitheulalia1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If you are being asked for credentials when trying to scan through the HP Scan app and you do not remember setting up these credentials, you may need to reset the username and password for the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS). Here are the steps to reset these credentials:

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Find the printer's IP address. You can obtain this from the printer's control panel:
    • On the printer’s home screen, tap the Wireless icon or navigate to the Network Settings menu to find the IP address.
  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer’s IP address into the address bar to open the EWS.

Log in to the EWS:

  • You may be prompted for a username and password. If you don't remember setting these up, try the default credentials:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: (leave this empty or use the default password provided during the initial setup)
  • If you have changed and forgotten the password, you may need to reset it.

Reset the Administrator Password:

  • In the EWS, click on the "Settings" or "Security" tab.
  • Navigate to "Password Settings" or "Administrator Settings".
  • Here, you can reset or create a new administrator password. Follow the on-screen instructions to do this.

Disable eSCL User Authentication:

  • If eSCL user authentication is not required for your environment, you may disable it:
    • Find the "Network" or "Advanced Settings" section.
    • Look for eSCL (Easy Scan to Cloud) or similar settings and toggle off authentication if applicable.

Save and Apply Changes:

  • After resetting the credentials or making changes, make sure to save and apply the changes.
  • Restart your printer to ensure the new settings take effect.

Retry Scanning:

  • Open the HP Scan app and attempt the scan process again. If prompted, use the new credentials you set up.
