Hi @Anildavid,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To connect your HP Scanjet 3770 to a Windows 10 laptop, you need the appropriate drivers and software. Since the drivers on the CD are not working, you can download the latest drivers from the HP support website. Follow these steps.
Visit the HP Support Website: Go to the HP Customer Support page: HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
Identify Your Scanner:
- In the search box, type "HP Scanjet 3770" and select it from the list that appears.
- Alternatively, navigate through the categories to find your specific model.
Select the Operating System:
- Make sure the website correctly detects your operating system (Windows 10). If not, select it manually from the dropdown menu.
Download the Driver:
- Look for the section that offers drivers, firmware, and software for the Scanjet 3770.
- Download the latest available driver and software package. This might be listed as "Full Feature Software and Driver" or similar.
Install the Driver:
- Once the download is complete, open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver and associated software.
Connect the Scanner:
- After installation, connect your HP Scanjet 3770 to your laptop using the USB cable.
- Power on the scanner.
Verify Installation:
- Open the scanning software installed during the driver installation process.
- Test the scanner to ensure it is working correctly.
If you encounter issues during this process, you can try the following additional steps.
Run Windows Update: Sometimes, Windows Update can automatically find and install the correct drivers for your hardware.
Compatibility Mode: If the driver setup file does not work, try running it in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows (e.g., Windows 7 or 8).
- Right-click the setup file, select "Properties," go to the "Compatibility" tab, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for," and select the appropriate Windows version.
HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor which can help troubleshoot and fix installation issues.
- Download it from the HP support website and run it to diagnose and resolve any problems.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
