Operating System: macOS 10.14 Mojave

Using HP EasyScan and scanning duplex through the document feeder, only text at the top and bottom of the pages is scanned.  Text in the middle half of the page is BLANK.  Scanning single sided documents scans perfectly.  

 

ONLY the duplex scanning of double sided documents leaves the middle of the page blank.  This also happens when I use the scanning software (Image Capture) on the MAC

 

What is the solution to make the M477 duplex scan?

Hi,

I would suspect any issue with the ADF duplex hardware, not a software problem.

 

Can you see the same results when copying a document and selecting 2 sides original from the 2-sided menu?

No.  Using the keypad on the printer to copy 2-sided TO 2-sided, there is no blank area on either side.  BUT I did have to set the copy settings for 2-sided ->2-sided.  Looks like the hardware works.

 

Next, I opened HP Easy Scan again.  Now, scanning both sides of multiple pages - it worked.  NO blank areas on the scans. So maybe I need to set up 2-sided copy before I use 2-sided scanning?  It is not often I need 2-sided scanning but your hint will be helpful when I use it the next time.
