Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP OfficeJet 8012e All-in-One Printer

As per the topic,

There are a few threads about this I am aware, but the are either from 2017 or mention scan to E-Mail (the 8010 series doesn't support this it seems bit odd, disabled by admin it states in the config screen, I am the admin surely I own the printer after all ???)

The windows 10 scanner app doesn't recognise the scanner as there are no drivers for these all in one printers. HP Smart only it seems.

So you can copy in duplex mode, you can print in duplex mode, you just cant scan in duplex mode.

So question is how do you get duplex mode scanning to work ?

For completeness I have a 8012e (With monochrome screen)

This problem is stopping me from printing double sided, because it's a pain to sit there to pop each page on the bed scanner, and let's be honest the HPsmart scanner app is not the most friendly when used on non touch devices.

This model / series does not support 2-sided scan.

Yes, I know.

The OfficeJet / OfficeJet Pro 8xxx series, including the OfficeJet 801x models) do not support automatic 2-sided scan.

Example

Product Specifications for the HP OfficeJet 8012 All-in-One Printer (1KR71B)

Maximum ADF scan size (metric)

and

Yes, I did mention the ability to Duplex copy, having actually tried this the option in the menu is there and happily goes to enabled state it doesn't actually do this.

And your product spec is spot on. I stand corrected my machine can't actually do this. Thanks for your quick reply.
