HP OfficeJet 5230 All-in-One Printer
macOS 26.0 Tahoe

Bonjour,

Hi @odalage,

Thanks for posting your query in English! We're here to help you get back up and running.

HP EasyScan Version 1.9.3 is not yet confirmed to be compatible with macOS 26.0 Tahoe, and HP has not officially released updated printer drivers for the HP OfficeJet 5230 that support Tahoe. Staying on Sequoia is currently the safer option for full scan and print functionality.

Compatibility Status for HP OfficeJet 5230 on macOS Tahoe

HP EasyScan 1.9.3

  • As of October 2025, HP has not confirmed support for macOS 26.0 Tahoe in EasyScan 1.9.3.
  • A user on HP’s support forum raised the same concern, and no official compatibility update has been posted yet.
  • HP EasyScan may fail to launch or detect the scanner under Tahoe due to driver-level dependencies.

HP OfficeJet 5230 Printer Driver

  • HP’s macOS compatibility page does not yet list Tahoe as a supported OS for the OfficeJet 5230.
  • While AirPrint may still allow basic printing, advanced features like scanning, duplexing, and ink level monitoring may not work without full driver support.

What You Can Do

Stay on Sequoia for Now

  • Since your printer and scanner work reliably under Sequoia, it’s best to delay upgrading to Tahoe until HP releases verified support.

Monitor HP’s Driver Page

  • Keep an eye on the HP OfficeJet 5230 Drivers page for updates.
  • Look for new listings under macOS 26.0 Tahoe in the Software and Driver Downloads section.

Use AirPrint as a Backup (Limited)

  • If you do upgrade, you may still be able to print using AirPrint, but scanning and advanced controls may be unavailable.

Let me know if you decide to upgrade or need help testing compatibility—I’ll stay with you through the transition. You're doing everything right by checking ahead before making the switch.
