Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 8715

Whenever I go to email a scanned document, I am getting the following error message: "SMTP server requires authentication. Make sure SMTP username and password are specified"

I am sending the document from one hotmail address to another.

I am able to scan the document to my laptop but just not to an email address.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

 

Default From: xxxx@hotmail.com

Default Display Name: xxxx

SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com

SMTP Port: 587

Always Use secure connection SSL/TLS (checked)

Validate Server Certificate (UnChecked)

Maximum Size of Email: Unlimited

Server Requires Authentification (checked)

User name xxxx@hotmail.com

Password: Hotmail account password
