Has anyone been able to use the Scan to Computer option located on the HP itself when scanning to a Mac?  It tells me I have to set it up but the app does not allow me to set it up.  The scanner is brand new and if I can't get this function to work quickly, I'm considering returning it to the store.

@Fastfilly

Hello,

To enable Scan to Computer, proceed as follows:

  1. Turn the printer off, and then on.
  2. Click Go in the top menu bar, then Go to Folder..., and then type /Applications/HP, and then click Go button. The HP folder opens.
  3. Double-click HP Utility. The HP Utility application opens.
    NOTE:  If you cannot find HP Utility, try scanning with another app or method, such as HP Easy Scan or Scan to Email.
  4. Click the All Settings tab, then click Scan to Computer, and then click the check box next to Enable Scan to Computer.
  5. On the printer control panel, navigate to the scan menu or icon, and then select your computer name.
  6. Start a scan job.

If HP Utility is not available, please install the printer with HP Easy Start.

Do not hesitate to contact us in case of need.

@mans,  Thank you for replying.

HP Utility does not support OfficeJet Pro 9015 as is stated on other threads for this same issue.  How does HP Easy Start help?  The printer is installed with HP Smart as well.  But the 9015 does not seem to offer Scan to Computer.

Hi,

The HP Officejet Pro 9015 does not offer scan to Mac computers indeed, such functionality is only offered for Windows computers.

You may set Smart Tasks to scan from the printer front panel as a workaround:

Also, scanning to a shared folder or email can be set from the printer EWS page, these can be sued to scan to your Mac.

@shlomil

Thank you for your response.  I am disappointed that HP hasn't made an effort to offer this functionality for Macs.  And I have found the set up interface for scanning from the unit to a computer/email/folder to be clumsy and more difficult for Macs than the set up for a PC seems to be.  I will likely return this item and look for a dedicated scanner that will work with my Mac.

My HP Utility is from my old printer. It does not recognize my new printer, so I cannot proceed as you suggested.

Hi @ecn1

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

This model printer does not have a printer software available in HP Support site. Kindly use the HP Smart app and create smart tasks to use the scan feature.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I see the guidance is to use Smart Task and all the links are to very generic guidance to setup Smart Task but when I look it is specific to Print, Email, and Save To.  The only one that seems relevant is Save To.  Is there very specific, step by step to set this up?

HP Recommended

Hi,

The steps are identical, the only difference is the saving method.

e.g Email to email the scan, or Save To to save the scan in cloud services.

When selecting Save To, you should select the required service, then logon to the required service, using the service logon configuration as you log in to this cloud service from any computer.
