Envy 5530
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When opening up the HP Printer Assistant to scan a document, I click on "Scan a Document or Photo" icon, and a message appears that says "The HP ENVY 5530 series was not found"

I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and after running this, it states the problem is fixed. If I run the Test Scan on the troubleshooter, the same dialogue is diplayed (series not found)

The only way to scan, is to scan via the EWS (web browser) which works.

I have tried the restarting procedures for the router, PC, Printer etc, and reinstalled the software (from HP site), and it still fails.

It did used to work until I had to reformat the drive and install a clean Win 10 and all software.

Any suggestions to get this going again would be appreciated . Thanks

Hello, @njg1 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I will do my best to assist you with this issue.

I see that you are facing issues while trying to scan. I appreciate all your efforts so far. They were spot on. I’ll try to help you get this issue resolved from here.

Let’s first completely uninstall the drivers and check. Follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL47817/mp-115841-6/EN5530_Basicx64_198.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Restart your computer & the printer before you attempt scanning.

If the issue persists, try using the HP Scan and Capture app. HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos or documents from an HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera.  These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications as well. Go to http://hp.care/2bUVkrw to download and install the HP Scan and Capture app.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

Hi DVortex

Apologies for the late reply.

Thanks very much for the advice.

I actually tried again to uninstall and reinstall the software, and this time the scanning option is working well.

so for the moment, I am up and running again.

Thanks again. 👍
