Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This Envy pro 6458 has been frustrating to work with. It will loose it's wifi connection consonantly. I have to go through a series of procedures about every 30 days to reconnect it to wifi. I don't know why. I've never had to reconnect to wifi so often as this HP printer.  I have to sign in to scan. Why? I signed in a week ago. I'm signed in and HP smart says my printer may not be compatible with HP smart even though last month everything was fine.

Nothing but fustration. I think I'll get a quick scan and get out of the office and here I am 30 minutes later.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

True - If the printer loses connection constantly, the application(s) that depend on that connection will fail, sign-out, balk, get stuck, or suffer similar indignities.

Dual Band Network

The printer supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz connection but not at the same time.

If you are running a Dual Band Network (both frequencies),

If the printer is constantly losing connection to your network,

Check to see which SSID named network you are asking the printer to use.

If your router supports the option, create a separate SSID named network for each frequency.

Connect the router to the frequency (named SSID network) you want it to use.

Perhaps

Weak, outdated, incorrectly configured router.

Distance, obstacles, interference between printer and router or from other devices.

Network Profile and Discovery

Incorrect of missing settings in Windows?

1 >> Network --  Private or Public

Normally, in Windows 10

In Taskbar > Click on Wireless icon > (at the bottom of the list) Network and Internet Settings

Thanks for taking the time to try to help. I did what I always do. Unplug printer, delete the printer from settings and wait ten minutes. I then plug it back in and reconnect printer via wifi and all is good till next time. My router is single network, 5ghz less the 36 inches away from the printer. The router is one year old.

This is a common problem I read on other websites with windows 10.

Oh well I guess I'll have to live with it.

You know that constantly unplugging the printer is a little harder on it -- and the full maintenance and ink setup cycle that runs when it's switched back on uses slight more ink than if the printer stays on (and, of course, connected).

That said - As long as you are satisfied with the method you are using, I certainly would not get in the way of "what works for you".

I'm not a personal fan of "well, it's a common problem" as a means to justify or accept things that don't work.  Nonetheless, after you have exhausted all methods to correct an issue, having the company of others similarly afflicted might provide a certain satisfaction in shared misery.

If you decide to look into this later,

If you have not done so yet,

Consider ...

  • To help stabilize the printer connection > Change the connection type to TCP/IP and assign a manual / static IP address to the printer.
  • Move the printer and the router a bit further apart -- "too close" can be as bad as too far away.
  • Consider checking the power outlet to which the printer is connected - a bad outlet -- or using a surge protector not appropriate for the needs of the printer -- can cause all kinds of mysterious issues.
  • If you are running Windows, Install / Reinstall the Full Feature Software.  Can help.
  • Consider changing the router channel (optional, of course).

Example - Windows

Method - Create TCP IP port

TCP/IP can resolve odd connection, scanning, and installation problems.

Create / Switch to a TCP/IP Port to facilitate communication and prevent ‘offline’ issues

Find the printer's IPv4 address

Print a Configuration Page

OR

Tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address

Control Panel, from Devices and Printers

Right-Click the printer and Left-Click Printer Properties

Tab Ports

Click Add Port

Select Standard TCP/IP Port

Select New Port and follow the instructions

Type in the correct IP address for the printer

Thanks again.

It sits on the other side of the table and is about the same distance from the router. Yes I have tried all the procedures on the HP help sites and I'm up and running for a while. I followed these steps in the past more than three times and finally I started my short cut way of "fixing it"

I think I'll start looking for a Canon printer.
