I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 and I've used the HP Embedded Web Server for scanning documents to my computer before. I log in via the IP address of the printer/scanner and use the scan to computer tool via the webpage.
However, now when a new tab opens (which is typically where the scanned image appears and I can download), I'm getting the error message: This page can't be found.
Cany anyone assist? Thanks!

Not sure, though I do see that your connection to the printer is not using https
This might be enough to cause the webscan connection to balk (Refuse, hesitate, have problems).
EWS > Scan > Webscan - Example Path

Have you come across this and you know the fixes OR can you point me to technical documentation details of:
- which port back to the PC is the printer communicating with?
- where is that scanned "NextDocument" actually saved ?
- do any browser settings come into play ?
ISSUE: Scan to computer via EWS - the webpage to scan form loads AOK: https://192.168.x.x/#hId-pgWebScan
Select ADF or glass, hit [Start Scan], notification about a new window popup appears, press [OK], new window pops up.
The page is https://192.168.x.x/eSCL/ScanJobs/abc123-random-long-string-890xyz/NextDocument
On the PC1 that is working, in EDGE, the PDF loads with that URL in the address bar - in the Acrobat extension AOK.
On the PC2 that is not working, it gives a "canceled" error in red text on the scanner page and it error's with a 404 ! - a HP generated error page that says "This 192.168.x.x. page can't be found" "no webpage was found for the web address https://192.168.x.x/eSCL/ScanJobs/abc123-random-long-string-890xyz/NextDocument" HTTP ERROR 404
PC2 also is EDGE with the same Acrobat extension as PC1. We also tried in Internet Explorer in PC2 (no Acrobat extension), and it ends with the same "canceled" and "page not found". Nothing shows in the job log nor error log.
The printer embedded web server is aborting - why ?
Which ports are in play that another app may be monopolizing? What other communication protocols? If it's displaying in Acrobat or the native browser PDF viewer, is it actually being saved to disk on the PC in \appdata\local\temp\ and something about that 'save' transaction is failing ?
Suspicions I need to rule out tomorrow
- maybe printer is on wifi and PC2 is on LAN or vice versa. How could this be a factor if the PC can reach the EWS as well as print to the printer A-OK ? The printer is set on PC2 with TCP/IP port instead of WDS. Even stranger, PC1 reaches the printer EWS page remotely over a site-to-site VPN, without having any local driver for that model nor does the printer appear in printers & scanners, so PC1 and the printer certainly aren't connected to the exact same wifi AP nor LAN switch.
- WIndows Fax and Scan is disabled on PC1, was left installed (by default) on PC2
- HP Smart app is installed on PC1, I do not believe it's present on PC2
Both Windows 10. PC2 does not have any other printer nor scanner installed, except for the Windows print & scan app as mentioned, but there is device to acquire an image associated with it.

RESOLVED for us at least - OP can test and confirm if it is their case as well.
Rule out any extension you have in your browser !
For us, I was mistaken, and the EDGE browser I was using on PC1 (working) did NOT have the Acrobat extension. PC2 (broken) did have the newest Acrobat extension installed in EDGE. Playing around with its few settings didn't help. Disabling the extension made the "scan to computer" function work again.
On Internet Explorer, (new install, no extension), it works if "compatibility mode" is enabled. [ IE is soon to go away anyway ]
In summary, it works on EDGE, Chrome and FF with their native PDF viewers. If you've installed another PDF viewing extension into your browser, that might be your problem.
We will simply make a Scan shortcut which opens in Chrome or FF instead because we do need to maintain the Adobe extension in Edge.
