Since the very last firmware update (July 2018) MAHDWOPP1N001.1829A.00.00 I cannot anymore scan to a shared folder from the printer screen panel.
Scan to a shared folder works when I order the scan from the PC but it is not working anymore when ordered from the Printer command screen...
I get the error "Connection problem General Error" on the printer panel but the printer is properly connected on the wifi and IP is corrrect and printer is reachable on the network.
I think this is a MAJOR bug in the firmware MAHDWOPP1N001.1829A.00.00 version.

Hi, Thanks for contact with HP Support Forum.
Please check the below link:
Almost same setup process: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05132977
N.B: Before setup, make sure your share folder PC/Laptop/Server will have login account password and share in everyone/located IP printer permission under security for Read/Write option will allow.
I hope that answers will support to concern adequately. Let me know! Good luck

We are having a similar PageWide Pro 577dw problem. Different in error message, but same end result - Cannot scan to network folder on 3 different MFPs. The only difference here is these 3 devices are giving the same message - "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password"
There are a number of other 577s on the same network as well that are using the same login credentials and can scan perfectly The ones that are failing have the firmware level of MAHDWOPP1N001.1829A.
Can these be firmware downgraded?

I updated 3 of our HP PageWide Pro 477dw last week and now we have the same error message: "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password"... after a reboot it works for a day and then the error apears again...
It's not very nice, that no one from hp support has answerd so far... -_-

Many thanks for the reply.
The first link is not applicable as I'm still running Win7 SP1 on this PC.
The second link solved the problem ! The step 6 was already OK (I properly checked this before) but the step 7 regarding "everyone" granted full access in the Security tab of the shared folder was missing in my case...
All is OK and working now ! MANY THANKS !
Kind Regards,
