HP6600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have 2 HP Multi function printers. I was able to correct the newest printer (HP6900) but the HP6600 is giving me grief. Scanned documents that should be about 3-4 Mb are being scanned to my computer with a file size of about 20Mb. This makes it impossible to attach and email. I have removed and installed and still the same issue. I had the same issue with both printers and am not really sure what I did to correct on the HP6900 as I tried to download firmware and drivers several times. When I check the firmware and drivers for the HP6600 it states that everything is up to date.

Well I'm not sure but lets check your scanning software.  Try both.

Scanning issues…

Please try this scan solution:

HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Check all your settings and expand all tabs and all + signs to see all options that you want.

Make searchable PDFs scans with this free scanning software - https://www.naps2.com/

NAPS2 also allows you to:

  1. Maximize and resize the scanning screen on your computer.
  2. Scan over 300 ppi from the Glass or ADF.
  3. Save multiple pages (over 300 ppi) to one PDF file.

The HP Extended software worked like a charm! I printed off your reply to me and scanned. First attempt without the additional software was 2.29 Mb. After the software was installed the same scan was 740 kb. Thanks so much for the help, it was most appreciated,
